. . . and while we're on the topic of holiday soirées, now that a winner of the last glamorous give-away has been announced, it's on to the next, and utterly delighted to announce this week's holiday give-away: from swoon, vintage inspired handmade jewelry filled with the romance of forgotten vintage and antique pieces such as brooches, bracelets, chains and buckles, intermingled with semi-precious beads and stones to create beautiful works of art . . .

swoon-giveaway

. . . and for the impossibly exciting news: one glamorous reader will win the adeline necklace {retail $200.00}, made of glittering strands of crystal in shades of powdery blue and smokey grey and adorned with a stunning rhinestone brooch, as perfect with a soft, brushed cotton t-shirt under a belted cardigan while at the shops searching for the perfect gifts, as with a sequined party dress and sky-high peeptoes on a festive december night . . .

to enter, {click here} to visit the swoon bijoux website, or {here} for another glimpse of the adeline necklace, then leave a comment below

{bonne chance!/good luck!}

. . . not quite december yet, and already things are beginning to move along at an even more dizzying pace than usual, with upcoming soirées, dinner parties and gift exchanges, boxes tied with ribbon and a feeling of magic in the air, and in the midst of all the running around, have been practically living in luxuriously soft cashmere cardigans, belted, and perfectly paired with cozy scarves and festive gold fingernails . . .

. . . while may not have had a chance to get together holiday decorations this past weekend {perhaps & hopefully this week}, have been dreaming up elegant colour palettes for the season, and while the last may have been inspired by tiffany's blue, this year, quite smitten with the idea of simple and classic silver and gold, perhaps hints of pearl and opalescence, gilded garlands and glittering sequins, and perhaps, just the faintest glimmer of palest lilac . . .

happy weekend

. . . the midst of one of the most perfectly relaxing weekends in forever, the carryalls have remained unpacked and staying in the city instead of the usual drive away, and so far, there have been luxuriously long and late dinners, lattes and brunches and afternoons at the shops, candlelit conversations and cozy, cozy nights and there's still all of sunday . . .

. . . have been lamenting just the other day that it has been
forever since there was an interior that overwhelmed with a sheer elegance intermingled with a certain romance, and then, all of a sudden . . . french doors and chevron floors, marble fireplaces and graceful archways, paneled walls and 19th century mouldings, all enchantingly flooded in light, and best of all, in paris . . .

. . . absurdly late and for some unfathomable reason, still awake, and despite the darkness and stars beckoning with promises of dreams laden in romance and softly falling snow, they can never match the romance of being awake and in love, the new chilly-ness in the night air bringing with it a deep anticipation for all the adventures yet to come, and days have faded into weeks and soon the weeks into a new year and it's beginning to look a lot like . . .

. . . have been having a wonderful time dreaming up holiday gift ideas, and quite adore self-taught san francisco bay area-based metalsmith andrea bonelli's beautifully simple and classic handmade jewelry line -- filled with diamond stacking bands and glittering moissanite studs, the collection is also eco friendly, using recycled and ethically mined diamonds and gems and would be the perfect gifts, boxed and wrapped in gold paper and tied with velvet ribbon, or, if you can not bear to part with them, equally perfect with silk-taffeta one-shouldered dresses for upcoming holiday parties . . .

. . . have been known to wear red lipstick nearly everywhere -- on early morning walks with the dog, at the shops and in the rain, and sometimes even to the gym, but very rarely, if ever, decorate with or wear the colour red . . . and yet, somehow, and only next to gold {an all-time favourite}, shades of scarlet, crimson and vermilion, always elegant and wonderfully festive in the form of short and stylish party dresses, are perfectly and utterly irresistable at this time of year . . .

"There is no formula for glamour. It combines shimmer and charisma. It's elusive but you know it when you see it."

- Mary McDonald, from Mary McDonald Interiors

. . . if you have been reading for a while, you will know about a love for placing beautiful things on display at home -- from perfume collections to elegant peeptoes, some things are far too lovely to stow away, and now, with the holidays fast and happily approaching, wardrobes are overflowing with ruffles and sequins and quite adore the idea of displaying shimmery cocktail dresses and alluring evening gowns on a clothing rack {another wonderful example here}, or in a perfectly stylish corner, set up, charmingly, with scarves and hatboxes, like a favourite shop . . .
